A creeping eruption of the buttocks

A 2-year-old healthy boy presented with an intensely pruritic eruption on his buttocks since last 2 months which did not respond to topical therapy with antifungal, corticosteroids, and antibiotics. The eruption was migratory, moving a few millimeters to 1 centimeter daily, and was not associated with any systemic symptom. Physical examination revealed a serpiginous, erythematous raised tract on the buttocks along with vesicles at its edge [Figure - 1], a finding consistent with creeping eruption or cutaneous larva migrans. Peripheral blood analysis was unremarkable except for the presence of mild eosinophilia (absolute eosinophil count of 900 cells/μL) and fecal analysis was negative for parasites. The patient was treated with albendazole 15 mg/kg for 3 consecutive days resulting in complete resolution of the lesion within 1 week [Figure - 2]. No recurrence has been reported after 3 months.
