As per Clarivate JCR 2021, the total number of citations of IJDVL in the past 5 years is 10,675.
More than half (52%) of our authors are from overseas. The diversity of our author base is reflected in the diversity of our published material, our highly cited articles representing areas as diverse as clinical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, dermatologic oncology, pediatric dermatology, dermatologic surgery, dermatopathology, investigative dermatology, venereology and leprology. In order to cater to this diversity, we have an equally diverse pool of referees, almost half (48%) are drawn from overseas, representing a wide array of specialities and subspecialities. The articles are carefully vetted through a five-tier editorial process, by a 58-member strong editorial team, all of whom work on a purely voluntary basis.
As the flagship journal of IADVL, we have published systematic reviews and meta-analyses, consensus statements and practice guidelines which have improved quality of care in this country and widely across the world. We have a separate category exclusively for postgraduate dissertation-based original research studies (that follows the same rigorous peer-review process as other categories), to encourage and appreciate the research work of our dermatology trainees. Besides, our commitment to our residents and practitioners goes beyond the narrow outlook defined by impact factor, as manifested by some of our regular sections such as Residents’ Page, Quiz, Images in Clinical Practice etc, which have very little or no value regarding citability, but are immensely valuable resources in teaching and learning.
