Morphology of Jejunal Mucosa in Psoriasis

Abstract

Morphology of jejunal mucoss was studied in 20 cases. This included IO cases of psoriasis divided into three grades mild, moderate and severe and IO healthy controls. Abnormal morphology was found in 40 percent of cases of psoriasis, and consisted mainly of dwarfism of inflammatory and increased number of inflammatory and goblet cells. No change was found in thickness of villi, and depth of crypts. The degree, of morphological changes showed a direct correlation with severity of psoriasis, serum albumin levels and d-xylose excretion. It may be eluded dw morphological changes in intestinal in cases of Dsoriasis and is directly related to severity of disease, Functional changes may precede morphological changes in these cases.
