We have great pleasure to inform this body that we are up to date in publishing IJDVL. No.6 issue of 2001 (vol 67) is ready for dispatch.

During the year 2000 we received 161 articles. We could publish only a few of them since there was backlog of about 200 articles of previous years 1999 and 2000. This year we could publish 7 issues (No 5 and 6 of vol 66 and No 1-5 of vol 67). Among the articles received during 2000 and 2001, about 88% have been accepted for publication and for the remaining ones either the authors were advised to resubmit after modifications or were rejected.

The article Blue neck syndrome: nematode larvae in skin scrapings by Dr. P Sugathan has won Bishnupriya Debi Award for year 2000 for best original article published in IJDVL. On behalf of editorial board I extend hearty congratulations to the authors.

Finance of the journal has improved a lot. From nil balance in SB when I took charge, it has now been raised to Rs. 3,38,220. This is in addition to Rs. 3,08603 kept as FD. The amount we received from former editor and kept as FD (Rs. 1,43,903) has been given to central office to be kept there as FD of Journal Fund.

I should thank various pharmaceutical companies particularly M/s Glenmark-Gracewell and M/s Glaxo-Wellcome for their continued support in the form of releasing advertisement. We received a total of Rs. 342738 from advertisements.

For want of correct address a large number of copies of journal are returned from postal department. All our efforts become fruitless, if our members are not getting the journal. I once again request secretaries of all state branches to send complete and updated list of members of each branch. There is a steep rise in postal expense now. For sending journals alone it comes to about Rs. 1,00000.

I thank associate and assistant editors and all members of editorial board for their help in my editorial work.
