Last year I assured you we will be completing the whole backlog of the journal. This year we have published 9 issues; the no. 5 of vol 66 being the latest issue despatched. No.6 issue is in the press and will be ready for dispatch by second week of February 2001.
During this year a total of 135 articles have been published; 70 articles in vol 65 (No. 3-6) and 65 in vol 66 (1 to 4 ).
During the year 2000 we received 192 articles. About 220 articles are still pending publication. If finance position improves or if some pharmaceutical firm sponsors, we will publish one special issue on case reports. During this year new features have been started including ′How I Manage′ and ′Dermatologic Surgery′.
Finance of the journal has improved a lot. From nil balance in SB account when I took charge as editor it is now raised to Rs. 2,12,564. This is in addition to the 3 fixed deposits totalling Rs. 3,08,603. Advertisement charges got from the pharmaceutical companies are put in FD to yield more interest.
I should thank the pharmaceutical companies particularly M/s Glenmark (Grace- well) and Glaxo- Wellcome for their continued support in the form of releasing advertisements.
Many of our members are still not getting the journal due to the incorrect address. I had been repeatedly requesting branch secretaries of states to send updated and corrected address of members to this office. But only 2 of them responded. Members also are not informing the central office about their change of address. Most of the ordinary members are not renewing their membership in time. If each and every member of I ADVL doesn′t get the journal, our efforts become fruitless. Please help us to serve you better.
I thank my associate and assistant editors and all the members of editorial board for their help in editorial work. My sincere thanks to Dr. Najeeba Riyas and Dr. M.P. Binitha - our assistatnt editors at Calicut, for their continued help in my daily editorial work.
Our thanks to M/s Popular Offset Printers, Vatakara for their help in publishing each issue in time.
Thank you,
