These are customized courses for an individual applicant, with the date of commencement and the duration (6 months to maximum 1 year) being decided by the centre (after receiving the application) and the applicant. The IADVL will pay a maximum of four candidates in a year a scholarship/stipend of Rs 50,000 each. No stipend would be provided by centres, but they have agreed to waive off the course fees.
The scheme is open for life members resident in India. Since the duration of course is long, it is not expected that postgraduates would apply. PLMs who have passed their examination may apply, but would be required to convert to LM before they are awarded the scholarship. Persons who have shown interest in dermatopathology (i.e. presented or published papers) or worked in the field of dermatopathology or in academic positions may be preferred. Candidates are expected to possess appropriate travel requirements such as passport, permission to avail leave for the required period (if employed), etc. The candidates would get a certificate from the centre on completion. They are expected to participate in IADVL SIG Dermatopathology activities and serve the dermatopathology needs of the members and the community on their return.
Process of application: Candidates will have to apply using the attached application form with their detailed CV and also indicate their preferred centre from the above. The last date of application is 15th May, 2015. Candidates will be selected by a committee consisting of the President Dr Venkatram Mysore, President Elect Dr Devesh Mishra, Immediate Past President Dr Deepak Parikh, Hon. Secretary Dr Rashmi Sarkar, Academy Chairperson Dr Manas Chatterjee, Academy Convener Dr Ameet Valia, the IADVL SIG Dermatopathology Coordinator Dr Nandakumar G, and IJDVL editor and the Fellowship Program Coordinator Dr M Ramam. Results would be announced by 15th June, 2015.
The selected candidates will be given a recommendation letter from the IADVL for a fellowship at that centre. They will then have to apply to the concerned centre, with Dr Ramam facilitating the confirmation on behalf of the IADVL SIG Dermatopathology for further process of the date, duration etc, of the course. A merit list will be prepared so that if a candidate is not able to avail the fellowship, the one immediately below would be given the opportunity. Selected candidates will be expected to submit periodic reports on the fellowship and a final one on completion. Please note that it will take at least six months for the formalities to be completed and that all arrangements, including travel, visa and accommodation, will have to be made by the candidates (though these may be facilitated by the centre).
Please fill up and send the application form on the next page to iadvltrainingfellowships@gmail.com and to iadvlsecretary2014@gmail.com by 15th May, 2015, indicating the centre of your choice, with full CV.
